Starting with a few days based in Cape Town, you explore the Cape area and its many attractions, including Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the penguin colonies, before heading off to discover the stunning scenery of the Garden route, visiting the Cango Caves, Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Starting with a few days based in Cape Town, you explore the Cape area and its many attractions, including Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the penguin colonies, before heading off to discover the stunning scenery of the Garden route, visiting the Cango Caves, Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Bespoke, privately-guided itineraries are also available.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL
You will be met at the airport for your transfer to the 5* Table Bay Hotel which will be your base for the next 4 nights.

DAY 2: CAPE POINT NATURE RESERVE / KIRSTENBOSCH NATIONAL GARDENS
After breakfast at the hotel, you are collected for your full day guided tour to visit the mythical meeting place of the two great oceans, where breathtaking scenic beauty contrasts with the harsh rugged conditions of the most south westerly edge of the African continent. Your tour takes in Clifton beaches and Hout Bay and Mariners’ Wharf with optional boat ride to view seals on Duiker Island [not included]. You then travel along Chapman’s Peak Drive (if open) or Kaapse Weg to Cape Point Nature Reserve. Visit the penguin colony at Boulders Reserve [optional at own cost – but you will see penguins on the beach] with lunch in a restaurant overlooking Boulders Beach [lunch cost not included]. You then drive on to historic Simon’s Town and end your full day tour at the lovely Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

DAY 3: CAPE TOWN / TABLE MOUNTAIN
You have the morning free for shopping and exploring the V&A Waterfront. In the afternoon, you take a trip by cable car up to the top of Table Mountain (weather permitting), followed by a tour of the city centre, including the Castle of Good Hope, the South African Museum, the Company Gardens, Bo Kaap Traditional Malay Quarter and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

DAY 4: HERMANUS
After breakfast at the hotel, you are taken on a full day tour along the east coast to Hermanus (120 km) and the surrounding areas to see the Southern Right whales from the shore (Aug- Nov each year). The scenic drive via Gordon’s Bay includes Sir Lowry’s Pass, Cape Hangklip and the opportunity to see penguins at Stony Point Nature Reserve. The quaint seaside village of Hermanus on the southern coast is where each year Southern Right whales, among other species, migrate into the coastal waters to calve and nurse their young. These mammals, mere metres from the shore, provide an unsurpassed whale watching opportunity between August and November. There is an optional boat cruise to see the whales at extra cost during the tour).

DAY 5: OUDTSHOORN/CANGO WILDLIFE RANCH & CAVES
After breakfast at the hotel, you check out for your trip to Oudtshoorn via Worcester, Montagu & Calitzdorp (Route 62). You enjoy a visit to the Cango Wildlife Ranch and adventure far into the inner chambers of the stunningly beautiful world famous pre historic Cango Caves before checking in to your lodge for dinner and overnight

DAY 6: OSTRICH FARM/OUTENIQUA PASS/BOTLIERSKOP GAME RESERVE/KNYSNA
After breakfast at the lodge, you visit an Ostrich Show Farm, before heading off on a scenic drive over the Outeniqua Pass to George and then on to visit Botlierskop Private Game Reserve near Mossel Bay. Here you enjoy lunch before setting off on a 3 hour game drive. You then drive to Knysna for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7: KNYSNA/PLETTENBERG BAY
You enjoy a leisurely day exploring the beautiful coastal town of Knysna, a community nestled between the fringes of the dark mountainous forest and the ocean, and Plettenberg Bay, Nature’s Valley. In the evening, you enjoy a leisurely Buffet dinner during a sunset cruise on a Paddle Cruiser on Knysna Lagoon.

DAY 8: MOSSEL BAY/SWELLENDAM/DEPARTURE
You drive slowly back to Cape Town via Mossel Bay and Swellendam arriving late afternoon where you transfer to the airport for your flight home, or to your hotel to extend your stay in Cape Town.
